Feeding Schemes
"Whilst South Africa is food secure at national level, the country is still food insecure at household level as not all households have access to adequate food. Almost 20% of South African households had inadequate or severe inadequate access to food in 2017.

School Nutrition Programme
It is an government programme that provides one nutritious meal to all learners in Primary and Secondary Schools. Food provided at school is intended to give learners energy, to make them alert and receptive during lessons.

The school meal consist of:
- Protein (Soya, Fish, Eggs, Milk, Sour milk, Beans and Lentils)
- Fresh Fruit and Vegetable
- Carbohydrate/starch
Regulations with regards to nutritional value, quality standards, servings per week etc are stipulated by Government. Feeding large number of learners and planning for a month or even 'n term's menu can be challenging.

Social Development Programme
